The East Africa Edition

The third edition of The Connected Awards was dedicated to recognizing tech experts from or residing in East Africa. The Edition covered all 13 countries in the region, including Burundi, Comoros, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Kenya, Rwanda, Seychelles, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Tanzania, and Uganda.

The team at The Connected Awards announced a total of 2903 experts on The List, using their reliable criteria. Out of this number, 304 experts accepted to participate in the edition. However, the team faced some challenges in providing a local platform in Kenya, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Sudan, and South Sudan, which affected the number of attestations recorded and the number of winners produced in the edition.

Despite the setbacks, The Connected Awards team delivered on all their promises and recorded a total of 33,832 attestations. Four winners emerged from the edition, with two of them (Ceasar Waweru and Jared Mwanduka) hailing from Kenya, one (Abdul Karim Sesay) from Rwanda, and an exceptional tech personality, Arnaud Gahimbare from Tanzania and based in Uganda.

The third edition was a huge success, and the winners represented a diverse range of nationalities, adding to the list of award winners. The attestation started in September 2022 and ended in October 2022, with attesters from all over the region participating and supporting their preferred candidates.

The Connected Awards team has taken note of the challenges faced in providing a local platform for the East Africa edition and is working on providing better solutions for future editions. The event has been a great platform to recognize and celebrate the immense talent in the tech industry in East Africa.
